Welcome!

Hello, and thanks so much for taking the time to read my musings!  I am, as the site implies, a middle-aged ragamuffin just doing the best I can each day, grateful beyond measure for the overwhelming, wildly abundant, crazy, unfailing, unflinching and never-ending love of God.  I’m sharing my journey with you in the hope that some of my musings may resonate with you, may touch a chord deep inside you . . . it just may be that you’re a ragamuffin, too!

“Jesus comes not for the super-spiritual but for the wobbly and the weak-kneed who know they don’t have it all together, and who are not too proud to accept the handout of amazing grace.”  (Quote from The Ragamuffin Gospel: Good News for the Bedraggled, Beat Up and Burnt Out, copyright 1990, by Brennan Manning)

I owe a debt of thanks to Brennan Manning for writing “The Ragamuffin Gospel,” and to my all-time favorite ragamuffin, Rich Mullins, for sharing his own struggles, for writing such profound lyrics, and for making such beautiful music that has touched, uplifted and helped so many of us along our spiritual paths toward God.  Brennan passed away in April 2013, and Rich was killed in a car accident in September 1997.  I never knew either of them personally, but I miss them both.  I’m so thankful, however, that their message lives on — God loves us more than we can even begin to imagine, no matter how bedraggled, broken, bent out of shape or beat up we may be!

“So go out and live real good and I promise you’ll get beat up real bad. But, in a little while after you’re dead, you’ll be rotted away anyway. It’s not gonna matter if you have a few scars. It will matter if you didn’t live.”  (Rich Mullins, from a concert in Lufkin, TX shortly before his death in 1997)
